Melumé Skinscience UA
A German cosmeceutical brand enters the Ukrainian market
The task
By the time we started, Melumé already ran a European store: English, German and Italian, prices in euro, shipping to thirty countries
Ukraine was formally on that list. You could order from Germany as it was, in English and in euro. But formal availability is not the same thing as sales
I was brought in to take the brand into the Ukrainian market for real
The solution
Not a language switcher on top of the European site, but a separate store
Its own domain, its own theme, hryvnia prices, Nova Poshta, local payment methods, Ukrainian content. The European store stayed untouched and kept working for its thirty countries
The theme is built on a Focal base and customized for the brand, with development in a separate branch. That way the theme base keeps updating and the customizations don't get lost
- A separate Shopify store for the market, with its own domain
- Custom theme on a Focal base, development in a git branch
- Catalog with a three-axis collection taxonomy
- 17 pages, among them the ingredient library
- Judge.me for collecting and showing reviews
- 80 scripts on the home page against 125 on the European site, the Ukrainian version is noticeably lighter
The result
The Ukrainian buyer got a store in their own language, with hryvnia prices and Nova Poshta delivery instead of an English-language showcase with euro prices and European logistics
The European store was not touched along the way: it still works for its thirty countries, and no Ukraine-specific decision required reconfiguring it
